Disney Wish: What to Expect on This Magical Cruise Ship
If you’re planning a Disney cruise, the Disney Wish is one of the newest ships in the fleet—and it’s just plain stunning. From the moment you step into the grand atrium, everything feels fresh, whimsical, and full of that signature Disney magic. The design is both luxurious and playful, with spaces that truly feel like they were made for every type of traveler.
Whether you’re cruising with little ones, teens, a partner, or a group of friends, the ship balances fun and relaxation in that way only Disney can. It’s a ship where you can meet your favorite characters before breakfast, relax in a quiet adult-only lounge in the afternoon, and end the night with Broadway-level entertainment. If you’re looking for a vacation that blends enchantment with ease, the Wish is a dreamy pick.
The Ship at a Glance
As soon as you step into the Grand Hall (think castle meets luxury resort), the tone is set—this is not your average cruise ship. Themed to Cinderella with golden accents, twinkling lights, and soft music playing in the background, it’s a space that’s somehow both magical and peaceful. The design throughout the ship is fresh and modern but full of Disney whimsy.
Rooms & Ship Layout: Disney Magic in Every Detail
Let’s talk staterooms—because the Disney Wish really leans into the idea that your room should feel just as magical as the rest of your trip. Every stateroom is designed with families in mind (think smart storage, split bathrooms, and beds that are actually comfortable). But beyond the practicality, the rooms are beautiful.
Each one has subtle theming inspired by Disney stories like Moana, Frozen, The Little Mermaid, and Sleeping Beauty. It’s not over-the-top or in-your-face—it’s more like elegant little touches that bring the fairytales to life without feeling like you’re in a kid’s room. If you’re into that cozy Disney charm with a side of luxury, you’re going to love it.
The ship itself has 15 decks, and while that sounds like a lot, it’s super easy to navigate. Elevators and signage make it simple to get around, and once you find your favorite coffee spot or pool deck, you’ll feel right at home. Whether you’re on Deck 3 admiring the Grand Hall or grabbing a smoothie by the pool on Deck 11, there’s something fun (or relaxing!) around every corner.
Want a specific room theme?
If you’ve got a favorite Disney story (or a kiddo who does), you might want to request a stateroom with a specific theme. Let your travel planner know what you are hoping for! Here’s a quick look at which themes show up on which decks:
Decks 2, 6, & 7 – Cinderella and Frozen
Decks 8 & 9 – Sleeping Beauty and The Princess & The Frog
Decks 10 & 11 – Moana and The Little Mermaid
Each room has charming little details from these stories—think artwork, color palettes, and subtle design touches that make it feel special without going overboard. If you’ve got a preference, speak up early and your travel agent (hi, that’s me!) will do what we can to make it happen.
Dining: Rotational Style with Signature Disney Magic
One of the things that makes a Disney cruise stand out is rotational dining—you’ll eat at a different themed restaurant each night, but your servers follow you and get to know you. That means familiar faces and consistently great service, even as the scenery changes. You won’t ever be bored with dinner.
Here are the three main dining experiences onboard:
Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure—Dinner and a show featuring Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf. There’s live music, storytelling, and lots of laughs (and the food is great, too!).
1923—Named after the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, this spot offers California-inspired dishes in a gorgeous, old-Hollywood-style setting. Classy and cozy.
Worlds of Marvel—This is the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure. It’s high-tech, interactive, and a must for any superhero fan. You might even spot Ant-Man and the Wasp while you eat.
Beyond those three main restaurants, there are tons of other dining options onboard—from grab-and-go snacks to quick lunches and room service. Here are a few worth mentioning:
Marceline Market—A stylish, food hall-style buffet with breakfast and lunch favorites. The theming is subtle but whimsical, inspired by Walt Disney’s hometown.
Wheezy’s Freezies—A cute little poolside spot where you can grab frozen fruit smoothies for the whole family, any time of day.
Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods—Think tacos, burgers, BBQ, and soft-serve by the pool.
Cove Café—Adults-only and tucked away, it’s the perfect spot for specialty coffee in the morning or a cocktail in the evening.
Room Service—Available 24/7 and included in your cruise fare—yes, really.
Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté — upscale adult-only dining options, if you’re looking for a special night out.
Live Shows
One of the best parts of a Disney cruise (in my opinion) are the Broadway-quality performances. The Disney Wish features three original productions that are as impressive and a great way to introduce Broadway to your kids:
Disney The Little Mermaid – A reimagined, theatrical retelling of the classic tale with new visuals and choreography.
Disney Seas the Adventure – A feel-good show that kicks off your cruise with appearances from favorite characters.
Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular – Full of humor, heart, and that iconic Genie energy.
And that’s just the beginning. There are also deck parties, character meet-and-greets, movie nights (often featuring unreleased Disney films), trivia, and so much more.
Entertainment on the Disney Wish
There’s so much to do on the Disney Wish, whether you’re traveling with kids or just looking for some grown-up time.
Let’s start with the AquaMouse— It’s part waterslide, part animated adventure, and a total blast. It’s a must-do for thrill seekers and a fun way to cool off between poolside lounging and lunch.
If you’re looking for something quieter, the Quiet Cove Pool is an adults-only area that feels like a hidden retreat. With an infinity pool, comfy loungers, and bar service nearby, it’s the perfect place to take a breather. I love sneaking up here early in the morning with a coffee—or coming back in the evening for a little sunset peace.
Speaking of drinks, Currents is an open-air bar on Deck 13 with incredible ocean views and a breezy vibe. It’s one of those places where you sit down “just for a minute” and end up staying a while. Right nearby, Cove Café is the grown-up coffee shop of dreams. It’s laid-back, tropical, and great whether you want to sip an iced latte in the morning or unwind with a cocktail in the evening. They also offer adult beverage tastings (wine, whiskey, mixology), which are super fun if you’re looking for a little something extra.
For something with a galactic twist, Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is a standout. During the day, families can pop in to check out the incredible views of different planets from the Star Wars galaxy—but at night, it becomes an adults-only lounge with specialty cocktails and seriously cool theming. It’s definitely one of those “only on a Disney cruise” experiences.
And that’s just the beginning. There are also deck parties, character meet-and-greets, movie nights (often featuring unreleased Disney films), trivia, and so much more.
Kids & Teens Clubs on the Disney Wish
One of the things I love most about sailing with Disney is how thoughtfully they design every space—especially for kids and teens. The Disney Wish has something for every age group, and these clubs are seriously next-level.
For the littlest travelers, it’s a small world nursery! is a sweet, cozy space where little ones can nap, play, and just hang out in a calm, caring environment. It’s a great option if you want to grab a quiet meal or sneak away to the adults-only areas for a bit. Unlike the other kids clubs (which are all included in the price of the cruise,) the nursery does require reservations and is an extra hourly fee.
Disney’s Oceaneer Club is where the real magic happens for kids ages 3–10. There are themed rooms, hands-on activities, and even surprise visits from Disney characters. It’s the kind of place your kids won’t want to leave—and you’ll feel totally at ease knowing they’re having the time of their lives.
For tweens (ages 11–14), Edge is their own hangout spot with movies, games, and creative activities, all with a little more independence built in.
Teens (14–17) get their own cool space too—Vibe—where they can lounge, listen to music, join group games, or just chill with new friends.
And there’s even something just for the in-between crew: The Hideaway is designed for older teens and young adults (ages 18–20). It’s a laid-back, stylish space that gives them their own vibe without feeling like they’re being shuffled into a kid zone.
Basically, whether your kids are toddlers or teens, they’ll have their own kind of fun—so you can enjoy some adult time knowing they’re safe, happy, and having a blast.
Health & Fitness on Disney Wish
Whether you want to get a workout in with ocean views or treat yourself to a spa day, you’ve got options:
The Senses Spa is serene, beautifully designed, and offers a full menu of services.
The Fitness Center has state-of-the-art equipment and plenty of space to get your movement in—even on vacation.
There are also yoga and wellness classes available throughout the cruise.
Final Thoughts
The Disney Wish is truly something special. It’s more than just a cruise—it’s a floating resort full of magic, comfort, and surprises around every corner. Whether you’re planning your first sailing or you’ve been on Disney cruises before, the Wish offers something new, exciting, and unforgettable.
