Meet The Disney Dream Cruise Ship
If you’re considering a sailing aboard the Disney Dream, or you’re already booked and want to know what to expect, this post is your walkthrough of the ship. The Disney Dream first set sail in 2010 and underwent a major refurbishment in 2024. There are 14 decks aboard the Disney Dream, each thoughtfully designed to offer a balance of entertainment, relaxation, and comfort.
Meet the Disney Dream
The moment you step onboard, you’re welcomed into the grand atrium lobby, a space that immediately sets the tone for the voyage. The ship holds up to 3,500 guests and is staffed by approximately 1,400 crew members. Most sailings are three to five nights to the Bahamas or Western Caribbean, with nearly all itineraries including a stop at Disney Castaway Cay or Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
Rooms & Ship Layout: Cozy, Family-Friendly Comfort
Staterooms on the Disney Dream were built with families in mind. Most rooms include a split bathroom setup (so helpful when getting ready!), smart storage for luggage, and beds that are genuinely comfortable. The style is more traditional than the newer ships, but still warm and inviting.
You’ll find elegant Disney touches - think classic artwork, nautical details, and a clean, timeless design. There are inside rooms, oceanview rooms, verandah rooms, and concierge-level suites depending on your travel style and budget. And no matter where you’re staying, you can expect exceptional service and thoughtful design that makes life at sea easy and relaxing.
Rotational Dining on the Disney Dream
One of Disney Cruise Line’s most beloved features is rotational dining. Instead of eating in the same restaurant every night, you rotate through three themed dining rooms during your cruise. What makes this special is that your serving team follows you each night. Your waiter, assistant waiter, and head server get to know your preferences, your kids’ names, and what you like to drink, creating a dining experience that feels personal and relaxed. You can learn more about how this works in our rotational dining guide.
Enchanted Garden
Dine in a serene splendor that recalls an elegant conservatory amid the foothills in France. The restaurant is home to custom-glass flower lights, white trellises, ornamental posts and a delightful 7-foot tall cascading fountain featuring a fanciful stone cherub Mickey Mouse.
Animator’s Palate
Step inside a colorful dining room filled with everything you would expect to find inside an animator's studio. Disney films adorn the walls, creating a one-of-a-kind ambience sure to captivate the entire family. Immerse yourself in the underwater world of the Disney and Pixar film Finding Nemo. As you dine, enjoy a visit from some of your favorite friends from the movie via spectacular digital animation and puppetry. You may even share in a conversation with Crush, the totally tubular turtle from the hit movie!
Royal Palace
Dining at Royal Palace places you and your family in the center of a classic Disney fairytale. In fact, much of the restaurant's wondrous design is modeled after classic Disney films, including Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.
Casual Dining and Quick Bites
On the pool deck, you’ll find several quick-service locations including Flo’s Cafe, Frozone Treats, and Eye Scream Treats, where unlimited soft-serve ice cream is always a hit.
Room service is available 24 hours a day and is included with your cruise fare, making it easy to enjoy a late-night snack or breakfast delivered right to your stateroom.
Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats is available for an additional charge.
Adults‑Only Experiences
Adults will find plenty of spaces designed just for them. The Quiet Cove on Deck 11 features adults‑only pools, hot tubs, and lounge seating.
Cove Cafe offers specialty coffee, tea, and cocktails in a calm, cozy setting, with complimentary baked treats available.
For dining, Palo serves upscale Italian cuisine and is known for its brunch and multi‑course dinners. Remy offers an elevated French dining experience inspired by Ratatouille and requires advance reservations and an additional charge.
Nightlife options include lounges and bars throughout the ship, such as Pink Wine and Champagne Bar, Evolution, Meridian, Skyline Bar, and more.
Entertainment Onboard
Families will find no shortage of things to do onboard. Character meet‑and‑greets are a highlight, with opportunities to meet classic characters, Disney princesses, and Captain Mickey and friends throughout the sailing.
The ship features Broadway‑style live shows, including Beauty and the Beast, The Golden Mickeys, and Disney’s Believe. Showtimes are scheduled to allow all guests to attend and can be found in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.
Movie lovers will appreciate the onboard theater showing current releases and Disney classics, all included with your cruise.
The Midship Detective Agency is another family favorite. This interactive scavenger hunt takes guests around the ship solving mysteries using enchanted artwork and handheld clues.
Deck parties, including Pirate Night with fireworks at sea, are included on select itineraries.
Pools, Recreation, and Slides
The pool deck features family pools, a Mickey‑themed slide, a Nemo‑inspired splash area for younger kids, and a large screen playing Disney movies throughout the day and evening.
One of the most popular family attractions is the AquaDuck, the first water coaster at sea. This 250‑yard ride sends guests through clear tubing high above the decks and even out over the ocean.
Goofy’s Sports Deck on Deck 13 includes mini golf, a basketball court, and sports games, while the jogging track and shuffleboard on Deck 4 add even more options for family fun.
Kids Clubs and Family Fun
