Universal Orlando

your overview, the laid-back way.

Everything you need to start dreaming about your Universal trip: the parks, how long to stay, and the on-site perks worth knowing about.

Three theme parks and one water park.
and with Epic Universe now open, there's more to explore than ever!
Where the fun happens

The Parks

Epic Universe

Plan: 1+ full day

Universal's newest and largest park, and the most exciting thing to happen to Orlando in years. It's built around five immersive worlds: Celestial Park, Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe.

There's so much here that I'd plan at least one full day, maybe more if you don't want to rush.

Universal Studios Florida

Plan: 1 day

Step right into the movies. This is home to Diagon Alley and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, plus Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, The Simpsons, and Villain-Con Minion Blast.

Ride the Hogwarts Express between here and Islands of Adventure with a park-to-park ticket.

Islands of Adventure

Plan: 1 day

High-energy thrills and beautifully themed lands. Ride the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and The Incredible Hulk Coaster, explore Hogsmeade, and visit Marvel Super Hero Island and Seuss Landing.

Volcano Bay

Plan: half to full day

Universal's Polynesian-themed water park, built around the towering Krakatau volcano. It's the perfect way to cool off and slow the pace down between big park days.

How long to stay

Plan Your Days

My recommendation: 4 to 5 days.

Now that Epic Universe is open, Universal is a much bigger trip than it used to be. Epic Universe deserves a full day on its own, and Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure are each worth a day (a park-to-park ticket lets you ride the Hogwarts Express between them).

Add a day for Volcano Bay or simply a slower pace, and you've got the ideal Universal vacation. I'll help you map out the perfect order for your dates.

Why it matters

The On-Site Advantage

Staying at a Universal hotel comes with perks that can genuinely change your trip, especially when it comes to skipping lines.

Free Universal Express Unlimited at the three Premier hotels (Loews Portofino Bay, Hard Rock, and Loews Royal Pacific). Skip the regular lines all day at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. This perk alone can be worth the higher room rate.
Early Park Admission at every on-site hotel, so you're in the parks before the day-guest crowds.
Early entry to Epic Universe at the three newest hotels (Helios Grand, Stella Nova, and Terra Luna). Helios Grand even has its own dedicated entrance into Epic Universe.
Good to know: free Express Pass covers Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure only. An Epic Universe Express Pass is not included with any hotel and must be purchased separately.
