When and How to Book Activities on Your Disney Cruise

First Things First: Your Balance Must Be Paid in Full

Before your booking window will unlock, your cruise must be paid in full. Even if your Castaway Club status gives you an early booking date, the system won’t allow reservations until your balance is cleared.

If you’re close to your booking window and unsure about your payment status, now is the time to double‑check.

When Do Booking Windows Open?

All booking windows open at 12:00 am Eastern Time on your assigned date. You can find your specific date in your confirmation email.

Your specific date depends on your Castaway Club status:

  • First‑time cruisers: 75 days before sailing

  • Silver: 90 days

  • Gold: 105 days

  • Platinum: 120 days

  • Pearl & Concierge: 123 days

The highest Castaway Club level in your stateroom determines the booking window for everyone in that room.

More details straight from Disney.

  • This enchanted salon experience is a highlight for many families. Kids arrive as themselves and leave as princesses, knights or pirates, complete with hairstyling, costumes and accessories.

Pirates League makeovers are typically offered once per sailing and are especially popular on Pirate Night. These appointments book quickly, so if this experience matters to your family, it should be high on your priority list.

  • Disney’s kids clubs for ages three and up are included in your cruise fare, but families traveling with babies and toddlers will need to reserve nursery time in advance.

The it’s a small world nursery is available for children six months to three years old. During their stay, little ones can play, do crafts, watch movies or nap while parents enjoy adult dining, spa time or quiet moments onboard.

Space is extremely limited, especially during dinner hours and sea days, so booking nursery time early is strongly recommended.

  • One of the most popular things guests book during their activity window is adult-only dining. While Disney’s rotational dining is included and excellent, these specialty restaurants offer a quieter, more elevated experience and a nice break for adults.

Depending on your ship, options may include PaloPalo SteakhouseRemy or Enchanté. These restaurants require a separate reservation and an additional per-person cost.

Adult-only dining is especially popular for:

    • Date nights

    • Celebrations

    • Sea days

    • Palo brunch, which often sells out very quickly

If this experience is important to you, it should be one of the first things you try to book when your window opens. If you are traveling with little ones, pairing a dining reservation with nursery time is a great way to enjoy the evening without rushing.

  • Every Disney Cruise ship features Senses Spa and Salon, a full-service spa offering massages, facials, hair services and more in a calm, relaxing setting.

Spa appointments can be booked as soon as your booking window opens, and availability is limited, especially for sea days, couples treatments and beachfront massages on Castaway Cay.

If you know you want a specific service or time, book it early. If you are more flexible, you can also visit the spa on embarkation day to see what specials are being offered. A popular option is the multi-service discount that increases with each additional treatment.

  • Some character experiences are offered as free but ticketed events. These allow you to meet popular characters without waiting in long lines, which is especially helpful on sea days.

The most in-demand ticketed greetings are typically the princesses, including Anna and Elsa. While there is no additional cost, reservations are required and can go quickly.

  • Disney Cruise Line offers a wide variety of beverage tastings and seminars, whether you want to learn something new or just enjoy sampling. Options may include amari, beer, bourbon, champagne, cognac, martinis, mojitos, rum, tequila, whiskey and more.

If you enjoy trying a little bit of everything, mixology classes are a favorite. These sessions typically walk you through several cocktails while teaching you how they are made.

  • Aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, Goofy’s Sports Deck features digital sports simulators. These allow guests to swing, kick and compete in a variety of sports using realistic graphics and motion tracking, without needing a full-sized field or course.

This is a fun option for older kids, teens and adults looking for something active but different.

How to Make Reservations for Your Disney Cruise

A few important things to know before booking day arrives:

  • Your cruise must be paid in full before your booking window unlocks. Even if your window opens earlier based on Castaway Club status, unpaid balances will block reservations.

  • If multiple guests share a stateroom, the highest Castaway Club level in that room determines the booking window for everyone.

  • Once your window opens, reservations can be made online through your Disney Cruise Line account or directly in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

  • Booking windows open at midnight Eastern Time, and the most popular experiences can disappear quickly. I recommend being logged in and ready on both your phone and computer so you can move quickly.

  • Booking early gives you more flexibility with timing, helps you plan around naps, sea days and dinner rotations, and allows you to board the ship feeling prepared instead of overwhelmed.

What If You Cannot Get a Reservation?

If something you want is sold out, do not panic. Cancellations happen often, and Disney typically holds some availability for onboard booking.

Once onboard, you can check with Guest Services or the specific venue to ask about waitlists or openings. While nothing is guaranteed, flexibility can pay off.

And if something never opens up, it is worth remembering that there is no shortage of entertainment, food and experiences included in your cruise fare.

Final Thoughts and Booking Checklist

Planning your onboard activities does not need to be stressful. A little preparation paired with flexibility goes a long way.

Before your booking window opens:

  • Confirm your Castaway Club status and booking date

  • Download and log into the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app

  • Decide which experiences matter most to your family

  • Budget for extras like dining, spa treatments and excursions

Booking early helps you board with a plan while still leaving room for spontaneous fun. If you ever need help deciding what to prioritize for your specific sailing, I am always happy to walk through it with you.
