What is a MagicBand+ and do you need one?

Simply put, a MagicBand+ is a bracelet that is linked to your ticket. It scans your ticket for you and interacts with the parks around you.

MagicBands are not required, but we highly recommend them.
I like to use them because they keep my hands free. Also - they're fun! 

So technically, you don’t NEED one. But for the full Disney experience, you want one.
If you choose not to order one, you can use your phone or request a key to the world card to replace the functions of the MagicBand.

So What Does a MagicBand + Do?

  • scans you into the park.

  • scans you into all of your Lightning Lanes.

  • redeems your dining credits.

  • automatically captures attraction photos & videos for your Memory Maker.

  • scans your photos with a PhotoPass Photographer.

  • unlocks your Disney Resort room door.

  • scans to make purchases on food, beverages and merchandise.

  • lights up, interacting with fireworks, attractions and more throughout the parks.

  • allows you to participate in Bounty Hunting in Batuu.

How to order your MagicBands

Disney Resort hotel guests can purchase MagicBands at a special, pre-arrival price via your My Disney Experience account. Log in to your account on an internet browser and select “Magic Bands & Cards”

Select the person you want to buy a MagicBand for.

Scroll through to see your options and click on the MagicBand you want to purchase.

Click “Complete” when you have selected your MagicBand.

If someone in your group doesn’t need a MagicBand, select “decline a MagicBand” under their name to continue with completing your order.

Things You Should Know:

If you order online, order your Magic Bands BEFORE your final payment is due to ensure they have plenty of time to ship to your home!

MagicBands are shipped as soon as you order them, and the availability of styles may change at any time. 


Magic Bands do not ship to Canada. If you order them in Canada, they will be available to pick up at the front desk when you check in. 


MagicBand+ does vibrate and light up throughout the day. If you don’t want it to, just don’t charge it. It will still function to scan your ticket into the park and lightning lanes without being charged.

If you don’t charge it, or your MagicBand dies, it will still function for scanning. It just won’t light up and vibrate.
