A Guide to Lightning Lanes!

Most rides at Disney World have two lines.

The Standby Line
and the Lightning Lane.

Lightning Lanes will let you skip the standby line, giving you more time to explore.

There are three lightning lane passes to choose from.

The first thing you need to know is:

The first two options allow you to book lighting lane passes ahead of time and throughout your park days. You will show up to the ride at your scheduled time to skip the line. Your scheduled time will be a 1 hour window, giving you plenty of time to make your way over to the ride.

Two passes let you reserve your rides.

The Multi Pass allows you to book multiple Lightning Lane passes throughout the day, skipping the line. You can plan 3 multi-pass experiences ahead of time. Once you are in the park and you use your first Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, you can book another one. You can keep booking multi-pass experiences after you use one for as long as they are available. One pass gets you multiple rides based on availability.

The most in demand rides aren't covered under the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This includes rides like Rise of the Resistance and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. You can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass to skip these lines. You can book 2 Single Passes per day, per person. One pass gets you one ride.

The third pass allows more flexibility.

Beginning Jan. 21, Walt Disney World will expand the Lightning Lane Premier Pass pilot to all guests.  Previously, it has onlly been available to guests staying at Deluxe Hotels.

If you are staying on site, you can book this option at 7 AM EST, 7 days in advance from your check in day.
If you are staying off site, you can book this options at 7 AM EST, 3 days in advance.

When You Arrive

Once you redeem a Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection (ride the ride), you can use the app to check availability for another Lightning Lane Multi Pass experience—and add to your plans. You can make one new pass at a time until regular park closing (subject to availability). If you have a park hopper, you can choose a Lightning Lane Multi Pass experience in a different theme park!

On the day of your park visit:

You can find your booked passes from the homepage or by clicking Lightning Lane Passes from the menu. From here, you can modify what you have or select new passes when it is time.

Find your booked passes.

You can modify your Lightning Lane selections in the app. To get started, tap the Lightning Lane Passes section on the app’s home screen to find your plans. Then, you can change your selected park and/or date (subject to availability)—up until the moment you redeem your first Lightning Lane selection of the day. You can also change each experience and/or arrival window in advance (subject to availability)—up until the start of the arrival window.

Modify Your Plans:

When pre-booking, the Multi Pass has tiers.

One last thing you need to know:

When pre-planning your 3 Lightning Lane Multi Pass experiences, you will only be able to select one pass from one group and two passes from the second group. Or you can book all three passes from the second group. The rule is that you can only pre-plan one pass from the first group. Once you are in the park, these groups go away, and you can book any ride that is available.

Click on the Multi Pass dropdown below to see which rides are in each group.
