What Are Lightning Lanes?

Most rides at Disney World have two lines:

The Standby Line
and the Lightning Lane.

Lightning Lanes will let you skip the standby line, saving you time waiting in line.

There are three types of Lightning Lane passes to choose from.

The first two options allow you to book Lighting Lane passes ahead of time and throughout your park days. These are the most popular type to purchase.

You will show up to the ride at your scheduled time to skip the line. This will be a 1-hour window, giving you plenty of time to make your way over to the ride.

  • How it works:

    - Before your trip, you can pre-plan up to 3 Multi Pass rides per park day.

    - Once you use your first one, you can book another and continue doing so all day as long as rides are available.

    - Each booking gives you a 1-hour arrival window to use the Lightning Lane.

  • Some rides are so popular that they aren’t included in the Multi Pass system.

    - You can buy up to 2 Single Pass rides per person, per day.

    - Pricing varies by ride and date.

    - Each Single Pass is good for one ride on that attraction.

The third pass allows more flexibility.

Premier Pass

This is the no-plan-needed pass.

Prices will begin at $129 to $449+ (per person, plus tax.) Expect your Magic Kingdom pass to be at the $449 level.

These passes will allow you to ride each included ride, once per day, without a scheduled time. Just show up and ride.

How to Purchase & Book

You will purchase and select your lightning lanes in your Disney app.

Pricing for Lightning Lane passes varies by date, park or attraction.

Using Lightning Lane in the Parks

Keep booking passes all day! Once you use one, book another one. As long as they are available, you can keep booking!

Once you redeem a Lightning Lane Multi Pass selection (ride the ride), you can use the app to check availability for another Lightning Lane Multi Pass experience and add to your plans. You can make one new pass at a time until regular park closing (subject to availability). If you have a park hopper, you can choose a Lightning Lane Multi Pass experience in a different theme park!

On the day of your park visit:

You can find your booked passes from the homepage or by clicking Lightning Lane Passes from the menu. From here, you can modify what you have or select new passes when it is time.

Find your booked passes.

You can modify your Lightning Lane selections in the app. To get started, tap the Lightning Lane Passes section on the app’s home screen to find your plans. Then, you can change your selected park and/or date (subject to availability)—up until the moment you redeem your first Lightning Lane selection of the day. You can also change each experience and/or arrival window in advance (subject to availability)—up until the start of the arrival window.

Understanding Multi Pass Tiers

When pre-planning your 3 Multi Pass rides, you’ll notice two groups (tiers) of attractions.
Because Tier 1 Rides are so popular, Disney only allows you to pre-book one of those rides.

When Pre-Booking You Can:

Choose 1 ride from Group 1 and Choose 2 rides from Group 2
or
Choose all 3 rides from Group 2

Once you’re inside the park and start booking new passes, these tiers no longer apply.
You can book any ride, any time based on availability.

Click on the Multi Pass dropdown below to see which rides are in each group.
