Space 220 - Dining Among the Stars at Disney World

If you ever wondered what it would be like to have dinner in space without having to survive astronaut training, Space 220 at EPCOT is about as close as you're going to get. I went for dinner with a group of friends, and it felt like an experience rather than just a meal.

Getting There: The "Elevator to Space" Experience

From the moment you step through the doors, Disney leans hard into the theme in the best way. You're treated like you're getting ready to launch into orbit. Complete with a ticket to ride the space elevator which will :"launch" you up to the Centauri Space Station. The elevator is a circular room you're escorted into, with a circular railing in the middle. If you look over the railing, you will be able to see your elevator launch up into space and you quickly see Disney World, Florida and planet earth turn into a tiny speck. This effect is super fun and immersive without being intense or scary. Once you're "in orbit", you will step into the dining room and it really feels like you're in a space station. Floor to ceiling "windows" where you can see earth, stars, planets, meteors, and even the occasional astronaut float by.

We were lucky enough to get a reservation with a view of the "sunset" from space, and it was genuinely beautiful. It's one of those moments where you go "Okay, yeah. This is why we paid for this"

Space 220 uses a Prix Fixe menu for both lunch and dinner. Lunch is a 2 course meal and dinner is a 3 course meal.

Appetizers We Tried:

Centauri Caesar Salad

I'm a caesar salad snob, and i'm not easily impressed... but this one was delicious. The dressing had great flavor, the balance was just right, and it felt like a truly elevated Caesar salad, rather than just a throwaway starter. I would absolutely order it again.

Blue Moon Cauliflower:

This was a surprise hit. I went in expecting just some cauliflower with sauce. But it tasted way more like buffalo wings than a plate of veggies. The texture and flavor made it feel like a fun, almost indulgent appetizer instead of the token vegetarian option. Even if you're not a cauliflower fan, it's worth a try.

Shrimp Tacos:

I personally didn't try these. (I'm allergic)
But my friends did and they loved them! The only complaint? They wished there were more of them. These are an appetizer, so the portion isn't huge, but they were flavorful enough that everyone wanted extra.

Main Courses We Tried:

Orbit Filet Mignon:

This was my entree (and pretty much everyone else's as well haha) and it was EXTREMELY GOOD. The filet came with mashed potatoes, carrots, and a red wine reduction sauce. The flavors were fantastic and the filet was tender and well cooked. The potatoes felt creamy and comforting, and the sauce tied everything together perfectly. It felt like a true signature dish and not just a theme park "good enough" dinner.

Space Pad Thai:

One of my friends ordered the Space Pad Thai and really enjoyed it. It was a VERY large portion. She said it was well made, super flavorful, and satisfying. If you want something a bit different from the usual steak or chicken option, this is a great option.

Desserts We Tried:

Lunar Carrot Cake:

Our waitress told us that this was the most popular dessert here, and I can see why. It was delicious, moist and full of flavor. I easily could have eaten four more pieces. If you only get one dessert, make it this one.

Cosmic Cheesecake:

The Cosmic Cheesecake was good...but not life changing. It's a solid and cute piece of cheesecake! I loved the presentation and it was very on theme, which does add to the fun. If you're a cheesecake person, this wont disappoint you. If you're choosing between desserts though, Id still say the carrot cake is ranked above it.

Drinks We Tried:

Starship Lemonade:

This one was really good. A strawberry watermelon lemonade that's very refreshing and tasty. It does come with a glow cube, which makes it fun and very "omg we're in space!" but also bumps up the price a bit ($16 for a drink is... a choice) You're definitely paying for the novelty here. BUT you can order it without the glow cube if you're really feeling a good lemonade.

Moon Rocks:

This one was my favorite of the two drinks. Another lemonade with blue cotton candy syrup, coconut and pineapple juice. It came with a package of Pop Rocks which really took me back to highschool. It was cute and tasty, but nothing too special beyond the fun factor. If you love a playful non alcoholic drink, and the idea of pop rocks, it's a win!

Atmosphere and Overall Experience:

The atmosphere is absolutely what you're paying for at Space 220. The storytelling and theming are top tier Disney:

-Your "launch" into space via the elevator
-Being given a ticket for the journey
-You dine with a panoramic view of earth and space
-Throughout your meal, you will spot ships, meteors, planets and flying space visitors

It feels futuristic and calming at the same time.

Who I would recommend Space 220 for:

I would definitely recommend Space 220 if:

-You have an older child who LOVES space and would be blown away by the setting
-You're looking for an adults only dinner with great food and a fun immersive experience
-You enjoy themed dining where the experience is just as important as the menu

The food is genuinely good! (Not just "good for a themed restaurant") and the environment is unlike anything else at Disney World. If you go in knowing you're paying for both the meal AND the experience of dining in "space", it's absolutely worth doing at least once.

I'd go back.
Especially for that Caesar salad, filet, and another slice (or four) of that carrot cake.

Meet Kyleekate.

Kyleekate grew up in Utah and her first Disney trip wasn’t until college. But from that moment on, she was hooked! Luckily she married a man who shared her love for Disney, thrills, and food. Then, one day, she gave him the idea that he should apply at the Walt Disney World corporate office. Now they live right outside the Magic Kingdom with their little girl and can watch the Happily Ever After fireworks from their front porch.

Plan your next trip with Kyleekate.
