Port Orleans French Quarter is one of my favorite Moderate Resorts for guests who want something charming and low-key. It has romantic New Orleans theming, cobblestone streets, and a quiet, relaxing feel along the Sassagoula River. If beignets, jazz, and a calm place to land after a park day sound good to you, this one is worth a look.

Theming & Atmosphere

French Quarter is themed after the historic streets of New Orleans, with wrought-iron balconies, gas lamps, and colorful Mardi Gras touches. It is one of the smaller Disney resorts, and that is a big part of its appeal. It feels more intimate and calm than the bigger properties, which makes it a great pick for couples and for families who want a quieter stay. You can stroll along the Sassagoula River, take in the views, and even catch a boat to Disney Springs.

Room Options & Accommodations

There are three room types to choose from.

Standard Location: Two queen beds, with views of the garden, courtyard, riverfront, or parking area. Sleeps up to 4 adults.

Preferred Location: Two queen beds with those same view options, but located close to the lobby, dining, shopping, and transportation. A great pick if you want to be central. Sleeps up to 4 adults.

King Bed: One king bed, with garden, courtyard, riverfront, or parking area views. Sleeps up to 2 adults, so it is a nice fit for couples or solo travelers.

Dining Options

French Quarter has fewer dining spots than the bigger resorts, but what it has is really good. And yes, the Mickey-shaped beignets are here.

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory (Quick-Service)

Casual New Orleans-inspired food like jambalaya, gumbo, and po' boys. Do not skip the Mickey beignets.

There is plenty to do for all ages:

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides: A relaxing ride along the banks of the Sassagoula River.
Doubloon Lagoon Pool: A Mardi Gras-themed pool with a sea serpent waterslide and a hot tub.
Live Jazz Music: Live entertainment over at Scat Cat's Club.
Sassagoula River Cruise: A scenic boat ride to Disney Springs.
Cajun Campfire Activities: In the courtyard between buildings 5 and 6, nightly from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Jogging Trail: A paved, mile-long path along the landscaped riverbanks.
Bike and Surrey Bike Rentals: Explore on two wheels, or grab a covered 2-person or 4-person surrey bike from the Riverside Levee Marina.
Fishing: Catch-and-release fishing with a cane pole at the wooded alcove on Ol' Man Island.
Movies Under the Stars: In the courtyard between buildings 5 and 6 at 8:30 PM on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Playground: A themed playground with a water wheel near the main pool at Ol' Man Island.
South Quarter Games: An arcade in The Mint building with video games, pinball, air hockey, and more.

Transportation & Park Access

A few easy ways to get around:

Disney Bus Service: To all four theme parks and Disney Springs.
Sassagoula River Cruise: A scenic boat ride to Disney Springs.
Driving: On-site parking is available for resort guests.

My tip: The boat to Disney Springs is one of the best perks of staying here. It makes for a really nice, relaxing evening out.

French Quarter sits right along the Sassagoula River and shares some amenities with its sister resort, Port Orleans Riverside. You are welcome to walk over there for even more dining and recreation.

Cost & Value

For a Moderate Resort, French Quarter gives you a nice mix of affordability and charm. Rooms usually run from $275 to $500 per night depending on the season and any current promotions. I always check for deals when I put your quote together.

French Quarter is a great fit if you want a peaceful, charming resort with a theme you will not find anywhere else at Disney. Couples looking for a romantic getaway love it, and families who want a calmer, more relaxed stay do too. Between the pretty atmosphere, the easy amenities, and some of the best beignets on property, it is an easy one to recommend.
